EV Charger Installation for Homes & Businesses
Electric vehicle ownership is growing fast across Northern Minnesota. The best place to charge is at home or your business — and Arctic Heating, Cooling & Electrical installs the right system for your property and your vehicle.

Level 1 vs. Level 2 Charging — What’s the Difference?
Not all EV chargers deliver the same speed or convenience. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right system for how you drive.
Level 1 uses a standard 120-volt outlet. It adds roughly 5 miles of range per hour. That works for short commutes and plug-in hybrids but falls short for most daily drivers.
Level 2 uses a dedicated 240-volt circuit — similar to a dryer outlet. It adds up to 25 miles of range per hour and can fully charge most vehicles overnight. Level 2 is the right choice for most homeowners and businesses. It requires a licensed electrician for proper installation.
What the Installation Includes
Every EV charger installation from Arctic starts with a panel assessment. We confirm your system can support the new circuit before anything is installed.
- Panel load calculation and capacity review
- Dedicated 40 — 50 amp circuit from your panel
- Charger mounting at the location you choose
- Conduit run and wiring to code
- Permit procurement through the local jurisdiction
- Final inspection coordination
- Live test charge before we leave
If your panel needs an upgrade to support the new circuit, we handle that too. You get one contractor and one bill for the complete job.
Residential EV Charger Installation
Most home installations are completed in a single day. We mount the charger in your garage, run the circuit cleanly and confirm everything works with your vehicle before we leave.
We work with all major charger brands — including Tesla, ChargePoint, Enel X and Wallbox. If you have already purchased your unit, we install it. If you need a recommendation, we help you pick the right one for your vehicle and your panel.

Commercial EV Charger Installation
Businesses, apartment complexes and fleet operators have different needs than homeowners. We install commercial EV charging stations that handle higher demand and multiple vehicles.
Commercial installations may also qualify for utility rebates and tax incentives. We can walk you through what’s available in Minnesota before the project starts.
- Multi-stall commercial charging stations
- Fleet charging infrastructure
- Multi-family and apartment installations
- Load management and panel coordination
- Rebate and incentive guidance
Do You Need a Panel Upgrade?
Older homes and commercial properties sometimes lack the capacity to support a Level 2 charger. A panel upgrade may be required before installation begins.
Our electricians identify this during the initial assessment — before any work is scheduled. If an upgrade is needed, we give you a clear estimate and complete both projects together.
Permits and Inspections
EV charger installation requires an electrical permit in most jurisdictions. Arctic pulls the permit, schedules the inspection and handles the coordination so you don’t have to.
Skipping the permit creates problems during a home sale, insurance claim or warranty situation. Our installations are done to code and fully documented every time.
